THE RACE OF HOPE, BUEA - CAMEROON.


                The 17th Edition of the Mount Cameroon Race of Hope has come and gone and the echoes are still resounding in the far and wides of the region, country and the world of sports at large. In a word, or two, the race can be tamed successful, and this is why:



-          The inauguration ceremony took place on Friday, 17th Feb. 2012 at the Molyko Omnisports Stadium, under the leadership of the Minister for Sports and Physical Education Adoum Garoua and Fako Chiefs.




-          The theme for this years’ race was “Unis dans l’Espoir” translated “United in Hope”.
-          The race kicked-off effectively at 7:00am with the dispatch of the various categories, that is to say, Relay, Blind, Junior, Veteran (departure given by Roger Milla), Senior categories.
-          The first athlete passed Hut One at about 08:30am.
-          Tonungku George from Bulu-Blind Centre arrived the Molyko Omnisport Stadium at 10:30am being the first for the blind category.
-          On Saturday, Adoum Garoua came to the stadium at about 10:47am
-          First male, Godlove Gavsebywne (T-Shirt No. 156) emerged winner of the race with a spectacular performance,  in 4hr 3min which is  20 minutes earlier than the record time..



-         Yvonne Ngwanya (three times straight winner of the race) emerged victor of the race for the female senior category, finishing the race in less than five hours. This would be the first time a woman has finished the race  in less than five hours




      Yvonne Ngwanya emerged victor of the race for the female senior category.
-          First three female are Ivonne Ngwanya, Boyo Confidence, and Ngalim Lizette respectively.
-          Queen of the Mountain, Sarah Etonge emerged fourth in this years’ edition coming from a 3 years retirement .
